How to Fire Silver Clay in Your Microwave – all SECRETS revealed!

Step by step instructions on how to fire silver in your microwave without ruining it

Course Summary

Firing SILVER in Your Microwave
So, you may have heard all about firing glass in the microwave, but what about SILVER?  Well, now you can fire both glass AND silver in the microwave - you can even fire both at the same time if you really want to!
Gone are the days that you need to buy expensive, space-gobbling, cumbersome equipment to fire your artistic treasures!  Now, all you need is a small inexpensive microwave kiln which you can purchase for around $100, along with a cheap second-hand microwave.
All Secrets Revealed!
You will love this course if you want to learn the SECRET to firing your silver clay in the microwave.  It's not something that we recommend you experiment with yourself until you watch how it is done.  Why?  Because you it could cost you a lot of silver ($$$) and time.  We have spent hours and hours perfecting this technique, and have lost plenty of $$$ and time in the process - that was pretty soul-destroying at the time - but oh so worth it to come up with a fail-proof method that we can now share with you!
Step-by-Step Instructions
In this course we take you right through the entire process step-by-step where you will make a beautiful, yet simple fine silver pendant that you can wear yourself, give away or sell!
We give you great 'over-the-shoulder' instructions, not just on how to fire your piece in the microwave, but right through the entire process, from design to a polished finish.
Suitable for All Levels
This course is ideal for those who have already fused glass in a microwave kiln (beginners, intermediate and advanced), but you can do this course even if you have not previously fused anything.
If you have not used a microwave kiln before, we highly recommend that you head on over to kraftfun.com to learn the basics of MWK fusing - especially the HEALTH & SAFETY module!

Course Curriculum

Debbie Oetgen

Debbie is an artist and is internationally known in the field of Microwave Kilns and glass fusing. In 2009 she introduced microwave kilns to New Zealand and opened an online store glaze.co.nz to sell kilns and to facilitate her teaching.  At that stage Debbie's teaching of glass fusing involved inviting small groups to her home on a weekly basis.  The classes lasted a few hours and were held in her kitchen.  In 2011 Debbie was joined by a business partner and the pair began releasing tutorials on YouTube, realizing that that they needed to reach a wider audience.  The free videos gained immediate views and followers.  They are still there to watch today and the collection keeps growing - just search for GlazeGlassJewellery on YouTube.

Debbie has taught thousands of students now worldwide, but no longer has the time to teach physical classes unfortunately.   She spends a lot of time developing new techniques and producing teaching material.  She is very passionate about her art and loves to share anything new she comes up with.  Debbie is also a very active member of many of the Microwave Kiln and Glass Art Facebook groups, and loves to comment about everyone else’s creations and offers advice where appropriate.

Early in 2017 Debbie and her business partner created a new learning program, kraftfun.com.  This is a membership-based learning platform where students enroll for around the cost of a coffee a month!  They can stay as long as they like while paying their subscription and can watch many learning modules and multiple project tutorials using the microwave kiln.  Early in 2019 both the kraftfun platform and the
GlazeGlassJewellery channel in YouTube expanded to include projects such as firing silver clay in the microwave kiln.

Kraftfun expanded in 2019 to include more courses on NewZenlar.

Alongside the Kraftfun platform, Debbie has two Facebook groups which she administers, along with other Facebook pages.  Please feel free to visit and join anytime!  All the links are listed below.
